I want to take this opportunity to write an article about electronic cigarettes something more
personal than usual. After several weeks devoting myself to commenting on the technology, the
features and the latest news in the world, I am going to give you my testimony as a user of
these devices. And it is that, at this time, it has been just a year since I have been enjoying my
electronic cigarette.
In these twelve months I have gone from a daily pack smoker to a practically exclusive vaper. I
say “practically” because the odd conventional cigarette I have put to my lips, although more out
of commitment than anything else. By the way, how the perception of tobacco changes when
you kick the habit: that burnt flavor of the smoke that one was used to, now I find it quite
unpleasant, especially in the first puffs. Surely those of you who alternate your electronic
cigarette with traditional tobacco will have noticed it.
Well, the change from smoker to vaper has been noted in a very positive way, and in more than
one aspect. To start in the pocket. Smoking a pack a day means spending around 150 euros
per month. I don’t spend more than 12 or 15 euros a month on vaping liquid refills for my
electronic cigarette (my favorites, by the way, are the eKmel (Desert Ship) and the eMarlbr
(USA Mix)).
Even adding the price of the two devices that I have bought throughout the year, plus some
other little whim that I have given myself –a cute case and a pendant to wear around my neck;
one, who is flirtatious-, adding it all up, I told you, I think I will have spent in these twelve months
more or less what I spent on tobacco in two weeks.
On the subject of health, which is what really matters, what can I tell you? Vaping is like quitting
smoking for respiratory purposes. They say that after little more than a week without smoking,
the lungs eliminate a good part of the accumulated tar, until recovering about 20% of respiratory
capacity. In my case, the substitution of tobacco for electronic cigarettes was very gradual,
especially in the first two months, in which I was still smoking a couple of packs a week –usually
on weekends.
The fact is that I didn’t notice it until a good friend who had started vaping almost at the same
time as me told me: when climbing two or three flights of stairs, or walking down a particularly
steep slope, I no longer had breathing through my mouth, the air I inhaled through my nose was
enough for me. The loss of physical “bottom” is quite evident in all smokers, no doubt you have
noticed. Well, when you have substantially reduced your tobacco consumption, try doing some
daily task that involves some effort and look. Surely you notice how more air reaches your lungs
than before
